I can set here and google all day long about it but I want to here from those of you who've tried things, and I want to know what really works, I don't want to put him threw any more discomfort then he's already in with trial and error. so let me here your constapation storys, come on guys. you know you wanna.,

Oh, this is not the good kind of dirty.
Well, we've had this problem on and off with our little one. We used the gentle formula (where the proteins are partialy alrady broken down) and that helps a lot.
There is the prune juice and my mom swears by orange or orange juice, however I don't thik it works at all.
Avoid bananas as they are constepatory (is that really a word)?
That's about al she wrote I'm afraid.

the problem is, I don't think I could hog tye him in to drinking proon juice. lol.

I may be able to try the orange juice though, at least, if it didn't work, it wouldn't hurt him. i'll definantly have to try the proon juice too though, just got to go to the store to get some.

Try calling the pediatrician and see what he or she recommends. How long has this been going on?

O J wont work. Apple Juice does the trick, but, Smile. Okay here is the best. Get some oil Vasoaleen is good and simply massage his rectum with it. I mean directly on his anus. Use your pinky and be gentle. Get some lube inside. The warm oil loosens things up and it works faster then drinking anything. Cut that milk back too to avoid repeat treatments. Add some apple Juice, and some MMM water lots of it, but be careful with that apple, because you'll end up with the other issue. Smile. Good luck.

ok, I do have some Vasoaleen left from when I had to doctor his sercomsition, so i'll try that today, i thought about doing that yesterday, but I didn't know if it would harm him.

he's pooping every day, to every other day, it's just that his poop is hard, like rock hard, and it is coming out in little balls, like a rabbit's poop almost. I know that is not normal.

I cannot/ or will not call his pediatrission, we're in the middle of finding a new one, because the one he has now just blows every thing off. when he was 3 months old we had to change his formula because he was gaining too much wate with the neosure, and when we did that he didn't poop for 3 weeks. i called the doctor every day asking them to tell me what to do, and they kept saying, o it will clear up on it's oan. turns out we had to change the formula again, I know going three weeks isn't ok, it's daingerus. any number of complacations could have come up, inpaction, or anything, so i simply refuze to go to his ped about this, it will be a waist of my time. thanks guys for the aussom ideas.

Oh gosh, I've been down this road, and it ain't a pleasant trip. if the formula you are using has iron in it, you might want to change to the one that doesn't have it. iron can be constipating. my daughter had terrible problems with constipation. i used to mix a little dark caro syrup with the formula. worked like a champ. also if he can eat it, oatmeal, they make a whole grain one for babies now, and/or chopped up apples works. it takes a couple days of giving it to them but they will go regularly. is this helpful?

Great advice that oatmeal. Get another doctor soon. Smile. Also I would like to add mix the milk if that is how you do it let rich. More water in the mix will help. 3 weeks? Get another doctor, or shoot that one. He or she needs whipping.

my mom is a nurse and this is what she uses and swears by it.
equal parts of prune juice, apple sauce, and bran flakes cereal. just a few spoonfuls a couple of times a day for a few days should get things back on track.

thanks guys. I can't use oat meal or rice because they really hurt his tummy but i'll try alot of these other suggestions. we tried proon juice by it's self last night and it doesn't seem to have helped him. he is pooping, just not much, and it's verry hard. once again, thanks guys.

Enemas. Those would only be used if he wasn't able to poop at all, but it could be an option to consider.

Post 13 by The Bad Influence (kicking ass and dying trying) on Tuesday, 13-Oct-2009 6:33:09

he's 13 months and the only one's we've been able to find are for two and up. I did try an at home one where i got a snot sucker that he has never used, and never will use again and filled it with luke warm water, and it helped a bit but no where near what we needed it too.

Ok, orange juice is really acidic and might make it even more unpleasant for the little guy. But apple mixed with prune or with cranberry should help. Never ever use mineral oils, like vasolene on your baby, especially internally. They are made of crood oil, and that isn't something any of us should be putting on our bodies, especially our baby's bodies. Don't feel badly, most people don't read labels, because it is so confusing, a lot of parents don't realize what is in their baby body care products until baby two or three. You can use mango butter, shea butter, coco butter, jojoba oil, olive oil, etc, as they are natural and plant based, just check that that is all that is in the product. For instance no lotions with coco butter, just strait coco butter, try GNC, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, or what ever health stores are in your area. An enema can work, but they shouldn't be given more than once a week, and again, it is important to read the label and see that only natural oils and water are included, no mineral oils. There are nice plane old gliserin saposatories that you can buy for babies that aren't as messy as enemas and they are less traumatic for the baby. Oatmeal is a great idea, if your baby can tolerate it. Fruits like organic canned papaya, peaches, pairs and pineapple can work wonders also. It sounds like a diatary problem if it is this on-going, so possibly a combination of treatment and preventative measures will help. Punkin Butt, you can google it, makes a great no more constipation for babies massage oil that worked well on my son. Any tummy and lower abdomin massage will helpp also.
